I realized there are quite a few rooms in my home that I haven’t shared with you. So I am going to start today by showing you our formal dining room.
The dining set was my Great Grandmothers and I feel so lucky to have it. You know I love sentimental items and I think it is beautiful. The table has another leaf and total of 6 chairs so when I do need more table space I have it.
To add a touch of fall I hung the straw wreaths on both sides of the hutch with ribbon and put some {free} pinecones on my cake stand I made.
Even though we rarely eat in this room I walk by it 100 times a day and it makes me smile. As are most rooms in my home, this is still a work in progress. I would like a rug to ground the table and although I think the light is beautiful, I sometimes feel like it is too heavy for the table. But that is the fun of it right? Constantly tweaking things and changing things up is what I do. ;)
What makes me love this room even more is that everything in here was either given to me, found at a garage sale/thrift store or on purchased at super duper clearance prices. (i.e. my $3.99 curtains!)
Linking up…
So very pretty! We rarely dine in ours either. As matter of fact this house is the first house we actually had a real dining room. IN all of our other homes we always used it as a playroom for the boys.
ReplyDeleteWhether you dine in here or not your room is gorgeous! I love all of your pretty touches.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful room! I love every single thing in it. Fun wreaths too!

Such a very pretty room. It is so cozy looking in there and it would make me smile also. We never eat in our DR either.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful room! I have to say it makes me smile as well because the dining table and chairs are the exact ones that my grandparents had. We dined at that table every Sunday and I have so many fond memories!
ReplyDeleteI love your dining room! It has such a cozy, warm feeling to it. I love your table & chairs and your china cabinet. I think my mom used to hvae those same chairs only hers were painted white. The backs look like harps.
ReplyDeleteI love your dining room!! I love the cake stand with the pinecones, it is a wonderful centerpiece. Where did you get those wreaths they are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog a couple of days ago and spent a lot of time looking at it and love it.
So I gave you the versitile blogger award you can check it out here: http://afullcottage.blogspot.com/2010/10/absentee-blogger-and-versatile-blogger.html

After reading your post and view your photos I definitely understand why this room makes you smile.
ReplyDeleteI love the personal touches. My favorite is the scroll floor piece that you have a wreath hanging.
What an amazing room! Have a blessed day!
